Class E-Mail Buddies
Our class has been involved with an e-mail project with a school in North York called Kingslake Road Public School. The students have been corresponding with the students in the grade three class since November1997.
We have exchanged a lot of e-mails with our buddies and learned a lot about them. We found out what their interests and hobbies were. We learned about their families.
As part of our Family Histories Unit, we exchanged information about our cultural backgrounds and holidays that we celebrate. We shared information on countries that our ancestors and present families came from. We shared information on why our families immigrated to Canada.
We then shared our favourite books with our buddies in the form of book reviews.
We are presently writing stories and sharing them with our buddies.
The most exciting part of the exchange has been meeting our buddies. We travelled to North York and were welcomed by the students at Kingslake.
We designed a coat of arms for ourselves and our buddies using "Kid Picks". We made picture frames to hold pictures of our buddies and ourselves. We also had pizza and chocolate cake!
We enjoyed meeting our buddies and have had a lot of fun exchanging e-mails.
