Here are many links to cool games that you can play. These will help you to recognize words, spell and increase your vocabulary - even help you with your homework. They are divided into sites for kids and sites for parents and teachers (to help your kids). Let me know what you think about them.
4 Kids:
- www.4kids.org - A great collection of newspaper-based links for kids. Features North American syndicated "Ask Amy" and "Cool Spots". Plenty of fun and games. Great stuff here!
- Burning Tree - Websites for Kids, Parent and Teachers. Includes games like Hangman and Tic-Tac-Toe. Find out about whales and Japan. Even has a wildlife database. Be sure to check out Carlos' Colouring Book.
- Cyberearth - Lots of Reading and Writing fun including greeting cards and interactive stories.
- Bonnie's Reading and Writing Room - Many great game sites listed. Bud's personal favourite is "The Prince and I Reading Coach Games" which has "Rhyme Time", "Scrambled Words" and "Magic Squares".
4 Parents and Teachers:
- Literacy Games - Part of the Lingualinks homepage. Features a number of games parents can play with their children. Sound strategies.
- Center for Learning Literacy - Parents and teachers: How to use the computer to support reading buddies. Finger plays and word study activity plans.
- Suggestions for International Literacy Day Activities - Library of Congress games and ideas for individuals and organizations designed to enhance Literacy Day. Shouldn't every day be Literacy Day?
- Wacky Web Tales - Parents and Teachers, sit with you children to help them create funny and entertaining internet stories. Also contains "Teachers' Center" and "Parents" Place".
